Music for a Saturday night
Truth: I’m actually listening to Frank Sinatra and other crooners on Galaxie’s Cocktail Lounge channel right now because I’m making dinner. But post-dinner, if I was going out (sob!), I would crank this song by Lil’ Kim.
I didn’t listen to much hip hop in the mid- to late-90s, which is when Lil’ Kim started to hit the music scene. I chose instead to listen to angsty music, but had I known better, I would’ve been rocking this song.
Honestly, I kind of forgot about her for quite some time, and then she showed up as a judge on Girlicious, the radest reality show out there. She had had so much plastic surgery that it was hard to take her seriously. But coming across this song (featuring none other than The Notorious B.I.G.) reminded me of her glory days. Rock on, Lil’ Kim!
